Moving into a new area isn’t always easy and meeting the new neighbours may feel overwhelming, but with 3 easy steps you can be well on your way from new neighbour to close family friends.
1. Become Familiar with the Community
Don’t stay cooped up in your new home. Instead, get out and explore what your community has to offer. Visit the dog park near by, go for a walk with your family and enjoy the outdoors, or maybe join a sporting club or volunteer. By doing such things, you are bound to meet new people!
2. Go to Them, Don’t Wait for Them to Come to You
Yes, it may feel a little nerve-racking at first, but it says a lot when a person makes the effort to present themselves first. Don’t worry, they are probably a little nervous too. A great way to make a good first impression is to gather your family together and head over to the neighbours and introduce yourselves. It is also a good way for your children to make new friends as well!
3. Enter Your Kids into Clubs or Sports
Your children need to stay active and keep busy, so what better way then to have them join gymnastics, play on a hockey team, or maybe join a Brownies club. I’m positive your kids will love getting out and making new friends in the area, and you will too! When you go watch your kids enjoy their activities, you will have plenty of opportunities to introduce yourself to other parents!
Hopefully these 3 ideas will help you in your new community to get to know the neighbours, make new friends and build your love for your new neighbourhood or community.
